Upcoming SA Gaming Community Events

There?s another bumper ten days (or so) of activities happening all around the country and for gamers of almost every level and on every platform.

Kicking off on a pretty low key is the Cape Town Gaming Meetup event.? Originally meant for every third Thursday, it inexplicably skipped last Thursday and could very well happen tomorrow.? A few gamers, something to drink and all out fun.? Watch the group over here to keep up-to-date.

Taking the activities up by more than the proverbial notch is the extra large Nintendo 3DS XL South African Launch Parties.? All promise prizes, a Mario Kart 7 racing tournament and a good time with good people.? At least we hope they?re all good.? Or people.? The first one happens on Friday in Durban at Waxy?s Restaurant from 7pm.? Follow DBNGamers (your hosts for the event) on Twitter to ensure you are constantly in the loop.

On Saturday, it?s the turn of Johannesburg.? The event starts at 11am at Cafe Culture and to register for the event, you need to head over here.? Otherwise, follow the chaps of JHBGamers and keep informed about what?s happening in your neck of the woods.

The last (but not least) of the launch parties is Cape Town which happens next Friday 3 August and is part of the regular 2upGamers? events.? Details and registration are still to be revealed, but a little birdie has told me that there will be the Nintendo 3DS XL Launch along with some Forza 4, FIFA 12 and other mini tournaments and games for your pleasure.? The event will be at the Ajax Ikamva Training Ground in Parow from 7pm.

Keep up with Nintendo on Twitter and their Facebook Page ? you might even win a little something.

The rest of this coming weekend features two LANs ? both are happening in Gauteng and both are regular monthly events.? On Friday is DazLAN from 4pm at Wierda park in Centurion.? Ground Zero LAN happens on Saturday from 8am at Klipriviersberg Recreational Center in Kibler Park.

Next weekend sees MainGaming in Cape Town at Canal Walk on Saturday (4 August) and Sunday (5 August).? Details are still to be confirmed, but we?ll assume it?s FIFA 12 and Modern Warfare 3 on the cards.

Also opening next weekend ? but to be confirmed ? is Cape Town?s newest LAN venue GecoSports.? Follow them on Twitter and be first to know when their doors open.

Finally, may we suggest that if you are a South African gamer, you head over and join (and then remember to participate) in the two long running community forums that are the source of plenty of great information.? The Xbox 360 SA Community ? for all your SA Xbox needs, obviously ? and SA Gaming Community ? which was up until a few months back known as PS3.co.za.? What you still reading for?? Go.? Now.

Apologies to anyone or any event we may have missed.? However, we can only get it right with your help, so feel free to let us know about any gaming events happening in SA and we will add them to our calendar.
