Publishing Industry Changes ? Writing and Illustrating

Farrin Jacobs?will join Little, Brown Young Reader?s Poppy imprint as editorial director on October 15, reporting to Megan Tingley. Jacobs spent the past six years at HarperTeen, most recently as editorial director.

Mary-Kate Gaudet will join Little, Brown Children?s as associate editor on October 8. She was most recently at Harper Festival.

Erin Harris has moved from the Irene Skolnick Literary Agency to Folio Literary Management, where she will continue to work with existing clients and focus on growing the agency?s fiction list, in addition to representing YA and select narrative non-fiction titles.

Shana Smith has been promoted to associate editor at Harlequin?s Love Inspired imprint.

Gemma Cooper has joined The Bent Agency, representing children?s and young adult fiction, based on London but taking on clients from both the UK and the US. She was at Bright Literary Agency, where she represented a wide range of children?s book authors and author/illustrators.

Dial?s editorial director is being given an eponymous imprint with Penguin Children?s, Kathy Dawson Books. Launching in late 2014, Dawson will target ?emotionally driven? middle grade and YA fiction, PW writes.

Anica Rissi?has moved within Simon & Schuster Children?s to join Katherine Tegen Books as executive editor. Previously she was executive editor at Simon Pulse.

At ICM Partners, Kristyn Keene and Kari Stuart have both been promoted to agent. Keene joined the agency in 2006; Stuart has been with ICM for seven years.

At Bloomsbury USA, Pete Beattyhas been promoted to senior editor?the position recently vacated by Benjamin Adams, moving over to the Bloomsbury imprint from Bloomsbury Press, where he?s been working with Peter Ginna since 2008. He?ll acquire nonfiction list for the Bloomsbury imprint while continuing to acquire for Bloomsbury. Lea Beresford is being promoted to Editor at the Bloomsbury imprint.

At Simon & Schuster Children?s, Liesa Abramshas been promoted to executive editor and moves from Aladdin to Simon Pulse, though she will continue to edit Aladdin?s Dork Diaries, Unwanteds and Beyonders. In addition, Annette Pollert moves up to editor, while Karen Nagel has been promoted to executive editor at Aladdin.

Also at Simon & Schuster, the company has announced a number of new distribution partnerships for their house-produced author and book videos. Their videos will be carried or distributed by AOL, Blinkx, Taboola, and the Digital BroadcastingGroup, and S&S video chanels will soon be available to view on TV through Roku boxes. S&S says their library of over 3,200 videos now generates over 1 million views a month.
