DURHAM ? A Durham church celebrated its 39th anniversary by helping others Saturday.
The church partnered with ?stop hunger now? to package foods for developing nations. The group packaged more than 10,000 units of food in just an hour and a half.
More than 50 people volunteered to help including the church's younger members.
?It allows the children to see we can help someone else by giving back and then it brings us closer together as a family,? said church member Ella Walker.
Walker brought her family to the church including her son, Terrance.
He's getting ready to go off to college but before he hits the books he's teaching others how to make a difference.
?we're out here trying to make the world a better place,? he said.
Each package of food is good for two years. This is the second year the church partnered with Stop Hunger Now . The church hopes to make it an annual event.
