Members of the Grand Bay community and the credit union movement in Dominica, on Thursday packed the Grand Bay church to bid farewell to Germaine Jno. Phillip who died two weeks ago while serving as manager of the Grand Bay Credit union.
President of the Grand Bay credit union, Edward Registe, who read the eulogy, described the late Jno. Phillip as someone with a big heart.
?She had a warm personality which drew people to her and she embraced and treated everyone as equal,? Registe said.
Main celebrant Fr. Mark Owen remembered her as ? a great lady and great credit unionist.? He added,??She was a tremendous apostle for the church?she did so with life and honesty.?
He said her funeral and death is a time to ?put things in perspective.?
Fr Mark also said that he hoped her hard work in the credit union movement in Dominica ?does not go unnoticed.?
Parish priest of Pte. Michel Fr. Peter, Fr Reggie LaFleur and parliamentary representative for the Grand Bay constituency, Justina Charles, were among the hundreds of mourners at the funeral.
According to reports, Mrs. Jno. Phillip died on Wednesday July 10, 2013 shortly after undergoing surgery.
